You might have heard of plans for a dog park going up on the State Hospital grounds at the crossing of Lincoln Avenue and Walnut Lane in Evansville. There have been big plans for that spot of land for a dog park for a while, but now wheels are in motion.
The nonprofit organization, Friends of Woodmere Dog Park, said in a press release that there will be an unveiling of the future home of Woodmere dog Park this Friday, Oct. 9 from 10-11 a.m. Then after, there will be an open house from 2-4 p.m. with music, the Kanpai food truck, and more information about the dog park.
Organizers say that the park will be fenced for unleashed play. There will be an area for large dogs and one for smaller dogs.
The park will be a members-only park and will require a key fob to enter as well as an up to date shots record. Check out the layout in the Facebook post above.
The release also said that dog parks are the fastest-growing amenity of urban parks today and over 75% of the 4,000 people surveyed placed a dog park first on the list of amenities requested for Roberts Park.
The park is said to be open this spring.
