ROMP holds Virtual Band Contest, Winner to play at ROMP

Calling all pickers that fall under the category of bluegrass or acoustic roots music! ROMP, Owensboro, KY’s Bluegrass music and arts festival, is holding a virtual band contest.

One band will win by public vote and go on to play live at ROMP 2021, on the ROMP main stage, and the Jagoe Homes After Party stage. The winning band will also receive a performance fee and lodging for ROMP 2021.

The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the organization that puts on the festival every year, said that they “strive to curate a lineup that highlights emerging talent.” So, naturally, a virtual band contest would be fitting for a year like 2020.

Bands interested are asked to submit a video by a Youtube or Vimeo link in ‘Phase I’ of the contest. There are some requirements to follow, click here to read them. The rules do state that there will be a cap on the number of entries submitted. So don’t wait!

Then in ‘Phase II’, ROMP asks fans to vote for the best band to move onto play at ROMP.

The first phase will be when bands enter their Phase 1 starts today, December 3, 2020, and will continue through January 1, 2021.

Voting will start on February 2, 2021, and end on March 14, 2021. The winner will be announced, March 17, 2021.
