Halloween Hullaballoo at Angel Mounds is set to be just as fun as ever this year although it will look a bit different due to the virus.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, and Saturday, Oct. 24 both from 6-9 p.m.
Halloween Hullaballoo is one of the most popular events at Angel Mounds. One of the biggest changes this year is the number of people allowed at the event. With safety in mind, the historic site is limiting the attendance each night to 150 people according to Site Director Mike Linderman.
However, there will be Halloween games, crafts, and the corn maze to get lost in. Of course, there will be candy! Be sure to wear a costume and bring your trick-or-treat bag to collect candy that is in pre-packaged bags.
Linderman said that guests need to register as soon as possible. Halloween Hullaballoo is one of their most popular events. In previous years, Halloween Hullaballoo brought in hundreds of people for just one night. You can register by clicking here, or by calling Angel Mounds.
Admission is $5 and kids that are 3 or younger are free.
If its the history you’re looking for at Angel Mounds, they are currently offering special timed tours with a max of 10 people Wednesdays through Fridays. These tours are $2 plus the cost of admission.
Fun fact, the mounds at Angel Mounds are not actually burial mounds. It is a common misconception. The mounds are actually structures of status. The homes of important members of Mississippian people that once lived there through the late 11th through the 15th centuries.
There is one burial mound on the property of Angel Mounds but it is said to much older than the Mississippian people. You can see it when you’re driving up to Angel Mounds, just before you turn onto their drive, look right.
