Evansville BBQ Festival to host $5,000 BBQ Competition

The Evansville BBQ Festival will feature a Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) $5,000 BBQ competition, live music, a custom car show, and world championship barbeque.

The festival is planned for Friday, August 16 and Saturday, August 17 in Downtown Evansville, Indiana between Locust and Walnut, and 5th and 6th Streets.

Friday, August 16 | 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Friday night is a ticketed VIP night where guests can enjoy a barbecue sampler dinner prepared by KCBS international trainer and multi-Grand Champion winner, Jim Johnson,  and live bluegrass music. This is a 21 and older event.

Tickets for Friday night are available online, here. Discounted tickets are available July 24 through August 1 for $19.95

Saturday, August 17 | 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Saturday is completely free to the public! On Saturday there will be World Championship BBQ for sale, barbecue from food trucks and vendors, live music and a custom car show. The live music line up includes The Hootz from Nashville and Tim Wright of the Wright Brothers from Indianapolis.

Adult beverages will be available for purchase on Friday and Saturday.

KCBS $5,000 Masters Competition

Do you think you have what it takes to win the BBQ Competition? Assemble your team! Teams for the competition are still being accepted. KCBS is the world’s largest barbeque organization with more than 20,000 members dedicated to promoting and enjoying barbecue.

There will be $5,000 awarded in cash prizes in four meat categories. Those categories are pulled pork, pork ribs, chicken, and brisket. The winner will have to opportunity to advance in national championships.

Teams are to report to check in on Friday, August 16 to start their grills. Entries for judging will be submitted on Saturday, August 17 beginning at 12 p.m.
