CANCELED: Downtown Evansville gets first-ever Christkindlmarkt

UPDATE: This event was canceled due to the Governor’s emergency orders limiting events to 50 people and the rise in virus cases.

Save-the-Date for these events in 2021: A Downtown Christmas – December 4 and the Downtown Evansville Christkindlmarkt – December 4 & 5, 2021.

The first-ever Christkindlmart to happen in Downtown Evansville is set for Saturday, December 5, and Sunday, December 6.

Christkindlemarts traditionally are street markets that originated in Germany, but many countries hold them now.

At ours here in Evansville, you will be able to find traditional German Nutcrackers and glass pickle ornaments (traditionally, the first person to find the pickle ornament gets to open the first gift, get an extra gift, or have good luck in the coming year)!

There will be roasted nuts, hot chocolate, german pretzels, and so much more from many handmade makers.

There will also be a 45 ft. Ferris wheel to really get you into the Christmas spirit!
