Starbucks unveils strawless lids.
Earlier this year, Starbucks announced it wanted to do its part to reduce carbon, water and waste by 2030. As a part of that goal, Starbucks announced yesterday it is rolling out strawless lids across company-operated and licensed stores in the U.S. and Canada.
They kind of remind us of sippy cups.
Say goodbye to the iconic green straws
The recyclable, strawless lid is made from polypropylene and has approximately 9% less plastic than the previous lid and straw used for iced beverages, according to Starbucks. The company says the new lid will now be the standard for all iced coffee, tea, espresso, and Starbucks Refreshers beverages.
Despite a successful trial with the sippy cup style lids, some people are not happy.

Others are applauding the company’s effort to reduce its carbon footprint.
