Bluegrass music is alive and well in Owensboro, Ky! The new Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum will celebrate the history of bluegrass and promote its future.

Tour the museum to learn the history, struggles, and successes of the genre’s pioneers. The museum offers a huge collection of video oral histories from bluegrass artists that made a significant impact on the creation of bluegrass prior to 1954. The Video Oral History Project has captured 268 interviews with the genre’s cultural icons and continues with the list below.

The project continues with this list of Bluegrass Pioneers.

The new building will be a beacon for all things bluegrass offering concerts, learning experiences, a music festival, and more!

ROMP

ROMP is one of the biggest Bluegrass music festivals and is hosted by the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum. For years the festival has hosted a stacked lineup of Bluegrass artists from across the nation and world.

Along with music, the event fosters learning with artist-led instrument workshops. Expect to see some spontaneous jam sessions!

Other workshops include songwriting, clogging (!), flat food dancing, yoga, and bluegrass jamming 101.

Music Lessons

The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum offers music lessons for all ages and levels. Classes are really affordable, too, thanks to grants and local funding. Lessons are only held on Saturdays and are all held at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum located at 311 W. 2nd Street in Owensboro, KY.
