A beloved attraction at Mesker Park Zoo has been refurbished.
The “Monkey Ship” just reopened to visitors after being closed down for quite some time. Monkeys once roamed the exhibit, but no longer could house the animals there.
Zoo Officials decided to revamp the playground for children and their families. We are told volunteers from the area worked hard all spring to make it good as new.
“Yeah, well this is a really beloved attraction at the zoo,” Kelley Weis, with Mesker Park Zoo, explained. “Many many years ago, it did hold monkeys–we’re no longer able to do that, but people have always loved this and remembered it from their childhood.”
Volunteers from Skanska USA and artists from Unspoken Art Studio worked on the exhibit all spring.
