Hard Rain (1998)

This big-budget flick took place in the charming, picturesque town of Huntingburg, Indiana. But you may not recognize much of the town since most of it is under water. Hard Rain, starring Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater, Randy Quaid, and Minnie Driver, is about an armored truck heist that takes place in the aftermath of a dam accident that resulted in a massive flood.

A League of Their Own (1992)

A true Hollywood classic, A League of Their Own won the hearts of a nation in the summer of 1992 telling the story of a Professional all-female baseball league that grew in popularity during World War II. The film was directed by Penny Marshall and consisted of an all-star cast that included Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Rosie O’Donnel, and Madonna. Parts of the film were shot at Bosse Field in Evansville, Huntingburg, New Harmony, Indiana, as well as Henderson, Kentucky.

Back in the Day (2014)

Michael Rosenbaum’s film Back in the Day truly feels like a love letter to the Tri-State. Rosenbaum wrote, directed, executive produced and acted in this comedy about a famous actor that returns to his hometown for a high school reunion. Rosenbaum, who lived in Newburgh, Indiana from an early age, used several notable Tri-State landmarks as backdrops throughout the film. Along with Rosenbaum, the movie starred Morena Baccarin, Nick Swardson, and Harland Williams.

Traveller (1997)

A clan of gypsy-like scammers known as Irish Travellers move from town to town grifting folks and running cons to get by. While most of Traveller was filmed in rural North Carolina where the story takes place, one particular scene was shot at Ellis Park Racetrack in Henderson, Kentucky. This 1997 drama starred Bill Paxton, Mark Wahlberg, Julianna Margulies, and James Gammon.

The Kentuckian (1955)

Traveling from Kentucky to the wilds of West Texas in the untamed 1820’s proves to be easier said than done for this pioneer in this 1955 classic. Several parts of The Kentuckian were shot in Owensboro, Kentucky and Rockport, Indiana. Starring Burt Lancaster, Dianne Foster, and Walter Mathau.
