In Partnership with the Southern Weekend

Have you seen all these signs on Evansville’s west side?

So. Many. Signs.

Have you seen this building decorated in old antique signs driving down IN-62, just on the edge of Evansville’s west side?

It’s hard to miss! Maybe you remember it as a restaurant?

Two years ago it was Wilson’s General Store & Cafe and it had some of the best BBQ in town.

Although the restaurant is closed, the huge collection of antique neon signs from the ’50s and ’60s still hang around (no pun intended).

And now the building is the headquarters for Wilson’s BBQ sauce and rub.

The Wilson’s BBQ team welcomes visitors to take look around. The signs surround the entire building, cover the walls and spill into the parking lot.  There are signs from Evansville, IN, Tennessee and all over the US. You’ll also see lots of handpainted signs done by the owner himself, Tim Wilson!

And if you see a sign you like, Tim may just let you have it… for the right price.

Wilson’s BBQ sauce is local to the Tri-State area and can be found in Schnucks, Rural King, and other smaller retailers.
