A beard movement: Bearded Villains of Indiana

Don't even think about shaving.

Battle of the Beards

Bearded Villains of Indiana are not exactly villains.

They’re a group of men banded together through their bearded brotherhood. They put on events to raise money for charities and love everything about facial hair.

This group is not just in Indiana. The Bearded Villains of Indiana are part of an international collection of beards. There are chapters in 25 states, Germany, Canada, Greece, Netherlands, Mexico and Austrailia.

Beards come in all colors, lengths and textures and the Bearded Villians of Indiana are always looking for new members. To become a member, a prospect must have a beard of at least 2 inches measured from the chin down.

And once you become a member, you’re a member for life.

That doesn’t mean members can’t shave. The Bearded Villains realize a clean-shaven face is needed in some situations (or just requested by their better halves). But if the beard must go away, members are asked to refrain from posting photos on social media!

Battle of the Beards

Battle of the Beards was the first Evansville beard competition and was held Saturday, October 27, 2018.

There were ten categories in the competition including:

• Full Beard Natural under 4”
• Full Beard Natural 4 to 8”
• Full Beard Natural 8 to 12”
• Full Beard Natural 12”+
• Full Beard with Styled Mustache
• Freestyle Beard
• General Mustache

• Whiskerinas

Sorry, guys. The Whiskerinas category is for the ladies, only. Ladies can make their own beard from materials of their choosing and compete!

The proceeds for this event benefited Soldiers Dogs for Independence. Soldier Dogs for Independence is a not for profit, 501(c)(3) organization that pairs Tri-State Veterans with local rescue dogs for companionship and assistance. Each dog is trained for service dog tasks and also tested for the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen program and the Public Access Test.
