5 tips to cure a sunburn

Apply, re-apply, repeat

Feel the burn?… Sunburn that is.

We are all guilty. We have all forgotten to apply or reapply the sunscreen one or twice before. No matter how many times you have been told to wear it, sometimes we fail. And when that happens, before you know it, you’re scorched.

Here are 5 tips to help you treat your burn.

1. Take A Pain Reliever

For the burn that isn’t too bad, try taking an over-the-counter painkiller such as ibuprofen (Advil) which acts as an anti-inflammatory to reduce swelling and ease the pain.

2. Take A Cool Bath

Soak your body in a cool bath. Skip the soap – it can dry your skin out even more.

3. Use White Vinegar

White vinegar contains acetic acid, a component of aspirin that can help relieve the pain, itching, and inflammation of sunburn. Soak paper towels with vinegar and apply like a compress to painful areas, leave them on until they dry.

4. Use Aloe

Blot your burned body with a cold compress to draw out the heat. This is a temporary fix. Follow up with white vinegar.

5. Use Lots Of Lotion

After your bath or compress cool-down, slather on lotion. This will help add moisture back into the skin and help prevent peeling.
